Betty Kuntiwa Pumani, Marina Pumani Brown Antara

synthetic polymer paint on linen

250 x 200 cm

This work is a collaboration between Betty Kuntiwa Pumani and her daughter Marina Pumani Brown. Interweaving their distinctive styles, the two women create a conversation on the canvas, retelling the storyline of Antara, a site cared for by their ancestors since time immemorial.

‘I am glad to be able to pass this story down to the younger generation, showing them everything that needs to be known. Painting this work with my daughter Marina made me proud of everything she has learned from us old people.’
