Lucy O'Doherty Afternoon light on coral house

mixed media on paper

49 x 69 cm; 68.5 x 87.5 cm framed

In my practice I am interested in capturing the atmospheric effect of the transitional light phases that occur between day and night on the urban and natural landscape. In this particular work, I wanted to reflect the time of day when the setting sun is close to the horizon, causing the light that is hitting the angular houses and surrounding flora to appear softer, and immersing the streetscape in the warm tones of the fading light.
