Sandra Sacilotto Day at the museum

acrylic on canvas

122.5 x 91.5 cm

I vividly remember walking through a Sydney city train tunnel as a teenager and hearing a busker. The music drifted along with me through the curves and channels of the tunnel, echoing, haunting me as I walked further away. I recall deciding this would be a great feeling to portray in the future. I love the way tunnels magnify your senses, the echoing distant sounds, the way light bounces in different directions, and the haunting feeling of loneliness.

Day at the museum tries to capture this feeling, with the presence of a past visit in the back of the mind.
