This portrait by Frank Eidlitz (1923-97) depicts fellow artist Ken Done (born 1940).
Eidlitz was an artist and graphic designer, graduating from the Royal Academy of Art in Budapest, Hungary, and arriving in Australia in 1948. He worked as an art director for USP Benson, Melbourne and from his own studio in Melbourne, and in 1965 received a Churchill Fellowship and studied in the USA, where he worked for NBC TV, also visiting the UK and Germany. Returning to Australia he experimented with emerging computer technologies and was one of Australia’s first designers and artists to use computer graphic software, alongside artist Doug Richardson, producing the first animations using computer generated imagery.
