Artist’s statement

The essence of life lies in our environment. Growing up by the sea, my own character has been greatly influenced by beach culture, the serene power of the ocean and the people who reside on its shores. My body of work is a series of monochromatic photographs representing a subculture of young people whose deep immersion in and admiration for the environment, in particular the ocean, have entwined, becoming an intrinsic part of their nature. I was inspired to capture portraits of these young people in their natural state, accompanied by photographs of the landscape and elements that have become an indispensable part of their identity.
