Artist’s statement

Human interaction with technology has transformed domestic life in the digital age. My body of work explores the feelings of isolation and overstimulation ubiquitous in the modern experience. I have adopted the conventions of ‘neo noir’, a genre that, much like its predecessor ‘film noir’, addresses contemporary cynicism, anxieties and ideals. The genre places a large emphasis on new media technology such as the development of colour in video, influencing my decision to give prominence to these features of the work.
