Elderslie High School
My body of work explores my great-grandmother’s life and the rich world around her that was filled with knowledge, relationships, belongings, experiences, memory and love. As a great-grandchild I sat and listened to her stories about her life in Germany, her work and her marriages. I watched her get old and struggle with dementia. I used old weathered fence palings to represent the decaying of the mind and body and to show that as time goes by your memories can deteriorate. Layers of collaged images and found objects represent personal belongings and fragments of time.
