Artist’s statement

My body of work expresses a personal awareness of the relationship between myself and others through a mental state. It conveys the loneliness of silence and the tricks it plays with our minds, lost to the darkness. The lack of exit from a world filled with depression. I was introduced at an early age to the artists I have appropriated in this work. I chose them to strengthen the work’s connection to surrealism, with its ability to portray a person’s inner thoughts and mind. Pen ink allowed me to enhance my concept by focusing on the emotions expressed by the darkness of the tone.

Influencing artists:
Salvador Dali
Edvard Munch
Leonardo da Vinci
