Artist’s statement

At the crux of a conceptual piece lies a perception; a viewpoint that depends upon one’s context and values. Perfection’s manipulation reflects my own perfectionist tendencies and desire to correct inconsistencies in the environment. Collectively, this series challenges one’s ability to view the artwork in its entirety by including a small yet salient imperfection within each piece. The tiny, yet deliberate, flaw within each work manipulates the viewer towards a predisposition where, upon realising the first imperfection, they subconsciously reduce their holistic viewing experience to a concentration upon the imperfect.
