Artist’s statement

My drawing practice began as an exploration of highly detailed pen and ink illustration produced through a subjective and experimental process. This work investigates psychological phobias and irrational fears, particularly clusters of organisms found in nature, hence the bees, seedpods and avian feathers. The feminine and aesthetically pleasing beauty of the subjects is challenged by the existential threats. The golden thread interlaced through the work offers reassurance. My aim is to leave the audience feeling peaceful yet uneasy.
