Artist’s statement

Symbolism within my work represents the solidity of my faith. Unconventional portraiture conveys a sense of unknowability, inner strength and an enigmatic presence. Influenced by my strong beliefs in the teachings of the Bible and inspired by the detailed drawing techniques of Zhang Chun Hong, I have represented myself as a quiet, confident yet solo figure within the landscape: I am seen but unseen, known but unknown. For me, finding solace in solitude is possible through leading a spiritual life as I’m constantly being renewed through prayer; unloading the mind, lifting the daily loads, making me feel tranquil within.
