Artist’s statement

In my work I explore recurring patterns and the concept of ‘networkism’, which investigates the artistic overlaps between artificial and natural systems. I began etching at an early age; my history with printing and position in a technology-obsessed generation inspired me to create this series of six intaglio prints. I have chosen a historical method of artmaking to portray a contemporary idea. Rather than regarding old technologies as being ‘out of date’, I am enforcing the fact that our history has shaped our ideas, societies and cultures.

Influencing artists: Jörg Schmeisser, Neale Krahe (technique); Wendy Mills, Paul Brown, Paula Moares Cordeiro (concept)
