Artist’s statement

Initial perceptions can simply be a pretty facade. Veiled within their beauty is an underlying darkness. Through the use of traditional women’s craft this work spans time and place to explore the dark tradition of gossip, judgement and prejudice that is often part of female experience. This trend continues to be passed down through generations of women to a technological world intent on crippling and destroying from the security of anonymity and detachment. The context may have changed but the intent remains the same. This raises the question, in an age of female liberation, how far have we really come?
