Artist’s statement

This work is a reflection of my state of wakefulness during the day as a result of my medical condition, narcolepsy. It expresses the emotional turmoil in my transition from dreaming to waking as my subconscious mind interacts with my conscious mind. Found and created objects are used in varying scale to juxtapose the conscious and subconscious mind. My artmaking practice draws upon the work of Kris Kuksi and his 'kit-bashing’ technique in which parts of a model kit are not used for their intended purpose.

Influencing artists: Kris Kuksi, Piet Mondrian, René Magritte
