Artist’s statement

The mythical Queen Mab, instigator of nightmares and fantasies, is perhaps the creator of dreams. Or is dreaming a subconscious process, sorting through emotions left unfulfilled during the day? Sigmund Freud and the dream theorists believe this may be closer to the truth. I see dreams as explorations of ourselves, our limitations, fears and hopes. My works represent dreams as extensions of reality, as well as tainted with absurdness and imagination. Gaining inspiration from the surrealists including Max Ernst, as well as Marc Chagall, John Olsen and Michael Bell, I have recreated my subconscious world, life and adventures.
