Artist’s statement

My film examines our dynamic relationship with art as an agent of awe, in medium and subject. I intend audiences to recognise the way the concept of 'new’ so heavily defines our perception of value. Romantic artists worked with awe extensively, albeit centuries ago, so I intended to create a 'new Romance’ with the work. In 1985, Imants Tillers redefined von Guerard’s iconic north-east view from the northern top of Mount Kosciusko with Mount Analog. Mount Digital repeats this process for today, when faithful reproductions and even reality become cheapened by the wonders of the modern world.
