Artist’s statement

With issues of atmospheric pollution and global warming proliferating the media, I wanted to create a body of work that explored the notion of industrialisation as a destructive force. Hence, in my artwork I depicted a fictitious dystopia overcome by exacerbated versions of these modern issues, manifested through an absence of nature and through a hazy, polluted sky. However, with these themes already being prominent in the science-fiction genre, I aimed at creating a unique perspective through the use of an impressionistic brushstroke that captured the fleeting effects of light as it fights desperately to permeate polluted skies.
