Artist’s statement

Initially a reaction to the exclusion of the visually impaired from the art world, my ideas extended into an exploration of the role and foundations of contemporary notions of ‘art’. I developed and refined simple images that conveyed my opinions through the use of irony and parody. The absurdities of the contemporary art world served as my main source of inspiration, along with the practices and philosophies and Dadaists and Hunderwasser. Antony Gormley’s installation Blind Light prompted me to focus on the concealment of art from the audience (art that was about not seeing), as did Christo’s wrapped up works.
