Artist’s statement

Materialistic voyeurism of Artescape 2489 is a photographic story of multiple images exploring the journey into the city of Sydney. It includes concepts such as the connection between globalisation, technology, tourism and contemporary art within our society. Photography was used as a medium because it plays an important role within our contemporary lives. Photography is commonly used as visual literacy within tourism, advertisements and art. The simplicity of a photograph is juxtaposed against the complexity of the messages it conveys and its interpretation. Simply, a picture tells a thousand words but its interpretation is complex.
