Artist’s statement

In ancient cultures ceramics were used in religious rituals, to give offerings and thanks to the gods. But in the growing spiritual emptiness of the 21st century, what is it that we worship?

We live in a paranoid and self-indulgent era. I find that increasingly we become slaves to our own vices. My work represents an offering to the 'gods’ that have deserted our avaricious age. A salute to Jean Michel Basquiat, Picasso’s Guernica, Barbara Hanrahan, Barbara Hepworth and the art brut work of Jean Dubuffet, who all lent various dimensions to my work.
