  • About

Grimm was a Swiss artist who settled in Britain in 1768, becoming one of the most delightful topographers working there in the late 18th century. He was admired by collectors for his 'tinted' drawing style and spent much of his time moving from shire to shire making views of country houses and estates. His staffage provide a light-hearted or humorous element to his compositions, such as the gentleman here dropping fruit into the apron of his companion.
