About
The absence of gilding might suggest a date before the acquisition of Frère Hippolyte’s gilding process in 1748. However, the style of flower painting and the palette (which includes a strong blue) seem to imply a slightly later date. The main landscape is repeated in blue monochrome on a glass cooler in the Musée National de la Céramique, Sèvres.
