About
The model is by Kändler and closely follows an engraving by J Le Blond of the comic actor Julien Bedeau in the role of Jodelet (the Mezzetin character in the French commedia dell’arte). From its number the model can be dated to the first half of 1748. As in the print, Jodelet raises a finger of one hand and holds a bag of coins in the other. The ‘K.H.C.’ mark indicates that the piece comes from the royal court pantry.
