About
The bust is from a Sèvres model introduced c1759, but is of hard-paste porcelain and bears the signature of a member of the Hannong family. Thus the piece appears to be the only known surviving example of the experiments made by Paul-Antoine Hannong at Sèvres in 1762–63 to demonstrate the efficacy of the hard-paste recipe he was trying to sell to the factory at that time.
