Title

Cup and saucer (gobelet litron)

1775

Artist

Sèvres

France

1756 -

About

The scene on the cup is based on a design by Boucher recorded both in an etching by the artist and in a print by Gilles Demarteau. It seems unlikely that a cup so finely decorated was ever intended for use.
