    During the Qianlong period of 18th-century China, a type of monochrome porcelain ware was produced for ritual use by the emperor. The forms of the ceramics were derived from ancient bronzes and their colour determined by the temple for which they were made: yellow, as shown here, was for the Temple of Earth.
