About

J. R. McGregor was an Australian wool-broker and art collector. He was born in Adelaide, South Australia in 1889. In the early 1900s, he established a branch of his father's company, J.W. McGregor & Co., in Sydney. He was appointed a trustee of the National Art Gallery of New South Wales in 1929 and served on the board until 1958.
