About
B. J. Waterhouse was appointed a trustee of the National Art Gallery of New South Wales in 1922. He became vice-president of the board in 1938 and president in 1939. He remained president until his retirement from the board in 1958. This photograph was taken in London when Waterhouse was travelling through Europe in 1926 with fellow trustee and artist Lionel Lindsay and with artist William Ashton. Waterhouse was an architect and an artist and the Art Gallery of New South Wales has a number of his works in its collection.
