Pro Patria medal, from the Cecil Bostock archive

This French medal, produced before the start of the First World War in 1914, was made as a reminder to French citizens to be prepared for war. The obverse text is translated as 'If you wish for peace prepare for war' (after Vegetius) and the reverse text as 'Physical training, military preparation'.
