    This flood occurred during the exhibition of the Italian Government travelling art scholarship for painting between 16 October - 8 November 1959.

    Exhibiting artists were: John Coburn, Robert Dickerson, Shay Docking, Judith Hoy, B.J. Lawson, Margo Lewers, Ross Samuel Morrow, Bruce Stoney, Frances Smith, Michael Taylor, Stan de Teliga, Robin Wallace-Crabbe, Brett Whiteley, Susan Wright.

    The exhibition was judged was Russell Drysdale, who awarded Brett Whiteley the scholarship.
