About
The Captain Arthur Phillip Memorial was first erected on 14 July 1954 at Circular Quay in Sydney by the Maritime Services Board of NSW in conjunction with the Royal Australian Historical Society. Jean Hill was the sculptor, with the memorial being sponsored by her father Sir Edward Hallstrom. The memorial was relocated to First Government House Place and rededicated on 28 August 2014 to commemorate the bicentenary of the death of Arthur Phillip, first Governor of New South Wales.
