  • About

This is a jacket from the Dong minority group, who live in Guizhou, Guangxi, and southern Hunan provinces in China. Festival jackets, such as this one, are dyed with indigo. The arrangement of the decoration on this piece is typical of such jackets with stylised dragons and circle designs embroidered on the front and back of the textile. The triangles of coarse cotton around the bottom hem are appliqued to the body of the piece. The lining of the jacket is made of paper.
