    Adam Cullen’s excoriating vision of the dark underbelly of our national psyche was reflected in a small but exceptional body of prints made over his career. This print was made in 2001 when much of his work was concerned with the subject of Australian masculinity.

    Cullen worked with various master printers to produce hard ground etchings and drypoints of great power and authority. These companion prints of grotesque heads were produced at Sydney’s Whaling Road Studio, with master printers Peter Stevens and Diana Davidson.
