About
Svay Ken was one of only two contemporary artists (Vann Nath was the other) to survive the Khmer Rouge genocide of the 1970s. His paintings depict events from his life and that of his family. Through his paintings, Svay Ken presented contemporary Cambodia – from the horrors of the Khmer Rouge to everyday scenes of powerlines, market stalls and discarded objects.
