Plate 270 from the 'Célébrités de La Caricature' ('Celebrities from La Caricature') series, published in 'La Caricature', no 130, 2 May 1833.
Joseph, Baron de Podenas (1782–1851) was described as an important but malicious politician. His name invited the pun ‘pot of the nose’. His proportions were an easy prey to Daumier’s art: a rather formless head topped by a strange looking tuft of hair.
