About
In his dreams Genji is repeatedly entreated to leave the wretched abode of his exile. One day, the priest from Akashi arrives in Suma claiming that he has been instructed in a dream to lead Genji away from this lonely place. The priest and his wife go out of their way to serve Genji in Akashi, hoping to secure his interest in their only daughter. Despite her humble origins, the Akashi lady is beautiful and artistically gifted, and Genji begins exchanging poems with her. On an evening in late summer, Genji sets out to visit her.The small entourage is seen here travelling along the seashore of Akashi on a moonlit night.
