  • About

Sayed Haider Raza began his art training at the Nagpur School of Art and after moving to Mumbai in 1943 enrolled in the renowned Sir JJ School of Art. This 'Untitled' landscape is one of Raza's early watercolours. Many of these works were cityscapes, reflecting the artist's fascination with the hustle and bustle of teeming Mumbai. The particular scene of the Untitled landscape is unknown. The seemingly rural setting may be based on Raza's hometown, the small village of Babaria, Madhya Pradesh or the forest ranges of Narasimhapura and Mandal Districts, where, as the son of a Forest Officer, he spent most of his childhood.
