  • About

Decorated on the exterior with four roundels illustrating the story of the cowherd and the spinning maiden in opaque enamels, reserved on a blue enamel 'graviata' ground; on the interior in underglaze blue illustrating the meeting of the lovers in the Milky Way.

These are generally known as ‘medallion bowls’ and were popular in the Jiajing and particularly the Daoguang periods.
