About
This work was painted in 1982, shortly after Lu Fusheng graduated from the Zhejiang Academy of Art (now China Academy of Art) where he studied landscape painting under Lu Yanshao (1909–93). The influence of Lu Yanshao’s landscape paintings is evident in Lu Fusheng’s work. In the late 1980s, as the chief editor of the Shanghai Calligraphy and Painting Publishing House, Lu Fusheng played an important role in helping his teacher to restore Dong Qichang’s (1555–1636) theory of literati painting style, a theory that had been suppressed since the 1950s.
