About
Mike Parr was born in Sydney and grew up in Queensland. He discontinued studies in Law in 1968 to study painting at the National Art School, Sydney. In 1970 with Peter Kennedy he established Inhibodress, an artists' cooperative devoted to conceptual art, performance and video. He taught at the Sydney College of the Arts and the City Art Institute in the 1980s and his work has been exhibited widely in Australia and overseas. His first etchings were made in November 1987, as part of a Australian National Gallery/ Australian Bicentennial Authority commission, and by March 1990 had made over 260 prints, in collaboration with John Loane, firstly at the Victorian Print Workshop and continuing to today at Loane's Viridian Press, Melbourne.
'12 Untitled self portraits (set 1)' is a series of 12 intaglio prints, made in an edition of eight, 3 artist's proofs and one printer's proof.
