About
The ripened pumpkin behind the houses and the lush vegetable patch in front allude a harvest season suggested by the title Sunny autumn. Two birds hover in the sky with fully spread wings, injecting liveliness into the serenity of the countryside village in the Dabie mountain bordering Hubei, Henan and Anhui provinces in China’s central east.
Zhu Xiuli graduated from the Nanjing Academy of Arts and later settled in Anhui province where he holds the post – National First Class Artist in the Anhui Academy of Painting and Calligraphy. His experience travelling to beauty spots of the mountains in 1960 with landscape painting master Fu Baoshi and other artists, such as Song Wenzhi and Ya Ming both in the collection, founders of the Neo-Jinling school, laid the foundation for the development of Zhu’s artistic style. Neo-Jinling artists created paintings full of vigour, depicting the changing face of the land in tune with the spirit of the times.
