  • About

Jealousy and obsession can transform beautiful women into hannya demons who eat human flesh. Their metallic horns, fangs and tortured expression reveal fury but also a sense of sadness and suffering. Hannya appear in nō and kyōgen (wild words) plays as well as in the kagura dance performances of Shinto faith.
