  • About

BRANGWYN was a painter, decorator, illustrator and printmaker. He began etching seriously in 1900, producing over 500 plates by 1948. His etchings are often large and dramatic (the antithesis of the dominant Whistlerean aesthetic) and they depict landscapes, townscapes. He especially favoured industrial locations and construction sites, populated by heroic workers. There are numerous prints, drawings and watercolours by Brangwyn in the collection. A number of prints were donated by the artist in 1919
