  • About

Nanrei was a student of Watanabe NANGAKU, one of the ten major pupils of Maruyama ÔKYO. ÔKYO was the founder of the Maruyama School which claimed that paintings should be made from direct study of nature, a break from the conventional practice of leaning by copying one's master's works. This painting, according to the dealer's authentication, was owned by Keigaku, a pupil of NANREI's.
