Works in the collection
Yang Rui’s works focus on depicting the beauty of the scenery of Suzhou, particularly the views along the rivers and lakes in his hometown. As seen in Water village, the narrow canals stretch though the town connected by arched bridges and old houses in ancient architectural style. The tranquil print evokes a sense of serenity. The artist’s works have been shown widely in China as well as in Japan and the United States.
Yang Rui was born in Suzhou, Jiangsu province. After graduating from the Suzhou Fine Art School in 1984, he began his career as a designer in the fields of theatre, costume and advertising. He continues to create art and is a member of the Suzhou Municipal Woodblock Institute.
