About
On a trip to England in 1883, Buhot drew a number of harbor scenes, one of which served as a preliminary sketch for this print. In this view of the Thames the etching describes the cloud formations and changing light of an oncoming storm. It documents a phenomenon of the time: steamers too large to travel up the Thames to London docks had to unload cargo onto smaller river craft downstream.
