Social sounds

Come make some noise with Junkyard Beats and The Human Sound Project

In this collaborative, improvised performance/workshop, led by The Human Sound Project and Junkyard Beats, everyone joins in to make some noise!

Using junk instruments, body percussion and the enduring power of song, we’ll learn to create rhythm and melodies together, culminating in an uplifting communal song.

For inspiration, we’ll draw on some of the social and environmental themes in the exhibition The National 2017: new Australian art

Everyone is welcome and no musical experience is required.

Junkyard Beats transform ordinary household items into musical instruments. Inspired by everyday life, they generate dynamic rhythms and beats. The Human Sound Project connects people through sound and song. They’ve returned to Australia after a global adventure co-creating songs on six continents that tell the stories of 60 diverse groups of people.
