Live music: Strelitzia Trio

A special performance by the acclaimed string trio

Strelitzia is a young Sydney-based ensemble originally formed as a duo by founding members Victoria Jacono-Gilmovich (violin) and Eleanor Betts (cello) in 2008 who went on to win the prestigious Musica Viva Chamber Music Award the following year. Strelitzia made their Sydney Opera House debut with a sold-out performance for Musica Viva in the Utzon Room Series in 2011 and performed frequently that year for Musica Viva’s Chamber Music Essentials program. During 2011 they also recorded their first CD.

Since then Strelitzia have performed widely and received extensive praise for their innovative programs. Their performances feature masterpieces of classical, romantic and 20th-century chamber music alongside lesser known gems from around the world and more contemporary works. Their influences range from world music to jazz to modern dance music.
