Live music: contemporary Afghan beats

With Ustad, Yama and Ali Sarshar of Sash Studio

Multi-intrumentalist Ustad Sarshar has been touring and performing Afghani and Indian classical music all over the world for the past 35 years. A gifted teacher, he has mastered various instruments including sitar, tabla, dholak, rubab, tambur, harmonium and flute.

Tonight Ustad joins us with his sons Yama and Ali for a special musical collaboration. Sayd Yama Sarshar is a virtuoso tabla player while Sayd Ali Sarshar plays harmonium and is musical director of Sash Studio in Sydney, where he creates contemporary arrangements of all music genres.
