Iranica Conference 2016

Mirrors of Iran: reflections in a transnational context

The Iranica Conference 2016 aims to engage cross-disciplinary discourse on the diasporic experiences of Iranian artists, writers and researchers. The keynote speaker is Iranian Australian artist Hossein Valamanesh, whose work is held in the Gallery’s collection and is on display in Beyond words: calligraphic traditions of Asia.

Iranica Australasia gives focus to Iranian Australians in context of transnational identity, place making and creative practices. This conference is produced in partnership with the Association of Iranica in Australasia Incorporated, a non-profit, non-partisan and non-religious organisation promoting Iranian cultural heritage, and the Encyclopædia Iranica, which is dedicated to the study of Iranian civilisation in the Middle East, the Caucasus, Central Asia and the Indian subcontinent.

Note: this event takes place in the Centenary Auditorium, not the Domain Theatre as previously published.
